Samson Nathaniel who represented Nigeria at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo, Japan headlines a list of prominent athletes that will jostle for honours at the 3rd edition of the Athletics Coaches Association of Nigeria (ACAN) Gateway Athletics Meet.
Other Star Athletes expected are Kiki Didier from Benin Republic an Olympians from tokyo 2020 Nigeria’s Grace Ayemobah commonwealth games 100mh finalist, ECOWAS champion Hamid Sambo, Thiam Jonas from Senegal, Akintan Sunday Nigeria fast rising 100m among others.
The event is scheduled to hold on April 21, 2022 at the Gateway International Stadium, Ilaro, Ogun State starting from 9am.
In a statement signed by the secretary of the Association, Mr. Ashipa A. Abayomi, more than ten events will be on display at the one day Athletics Meet.
100 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres, 1500 metres, long jump, Triple jump, shot put, Discus, Hammer Throw, Javelin among others, have been penciled down to take centre stage.
It was further revealed that rules guiding Athletics in the world courtesy the World Athletics and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria will be put in use.
Winners in all categories will be rewarded with prize money and medals.
The 3rd ACAN Gateway Athletics Meet is supported by WAMUFAT farms limited, Aiyetoro, AGROTTERA Sport Academy, Joga Orile and Babijoh consults, Lagos.
