Federer has enjoyed a sensational past 13 months in which he has won three of the five Grand Slams to return to the top of the men’s ranking.

At 36 years old he is now the oldest male to hold the No 1 seed in the ATP Tour, surpassing Andre Agassi’s record.

Having won 20 Grand Slams throughout his career, Federer is arguably the greatest male tennis star to have played the game.

But what endears him most to fans across the world is not only his excellence on the court, but his humble nature in interviews and with his fellow professionals.

Zverev, ranked No 4 in the world, has revealed how some of the top players in the world have a WhatsApp group to catch up with one another.

And the German went on to explain that it is Federer who more often than not cracks the best jokes in the group chat.

“Roger is the funniest among everyone, he likes to send jokes and funny videos,” Zverev told sportsbild.

“You wouldn’t believe at it if you don’t know Roger. (Nadal) replies instead of sending something.

“Roger and Rafael have played many important matches against each other, but they get along well.”

Dubai Tennis Championship director Salah Tahlak recently revealed Federer will not be competing at the tournament next week meaning world No 1 Grigor Dimitrov will head the field.
