Plateau United coach, Abdul Maikaba and Lobi Stars coach Gbenga Ogunbote has expressed their dissatisfaction over the possible options to end the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The League Management Company through the Chairman, Shehu Dikko while speaking on Channels Television on Monday, said that their are four options to conclude the season, a play-off of the top six teams to decide the champions and continental representatives appears the most likely format to be adopted.
Reacting to LMC Options Ogunbote told Brila.net that it will be a cheating for some clubs with fewer games.
Rangers earned 37 points from 24 games and sit on fourth position on the log.
“Some teams have already played 25 games while others have played 24 and we have Enyimba who have played just 20 games because of their continental engagements. Playoff will be very unfair to these teams,’ says the former Rangers boss.” He said
Also, his counterpart at Plateau United, Maikaba added that it’s not in the rule to merge teams with lower points with teams at the top to play off.
“I don’t see a situation where the team with 49 points will be joined with the team on 39 points to play ‘playoff’ together, it’s not even in the rule, so why not stick to the PPG rating and end the league? Why playoff? PPG should be the first option to be considered” .Maikaba told brila
