The Director of sports in Ogun state, Mr Adeshola Faleti has claimed that the state owned club, Gateway United football club is not a region club.
Adeshola spoke with nairasports.com.ng during the preparation for Nigerian Medical Association Games (NMA).
The game was slated to commence on 21st February at Alake sports Complex and Moshood Abiola International stadium, Abeokuta.
Adeshola said that the state has different region and they should all enjoy the beauty of the game.
“Something good is not meant for a particular region, let other region of the state enjoy the game” – he said.
He added that people come from Ilaro,Ijebu other part to watch gateway in Abeokuta before but now it has been moved to ijebu so people should go and watch them in ijebu.
“Ogun state is a state of unity, before it was Abeokuta that is hosting gateway united,moved to Ilaro but now is ijebu”
” people come from other region to watch in Abeokuta and Ilaro so its time for ijebu,people should go and watch them in ijebu also” -he said.
The Director however, praised the state governor, Governor Ibikunle Amosun for renovating the sports facilities of the state especially the Alake sports complex and Moshood Abiola International stadium.
” Alake sports complex is now putting on new look, the governor keeps to his promise and he has fulfilled it with the renovation of the sports complex and M.K.O Stadium ” – he said.
However, the Public Relations of Sports in Ogun state, Mr. Rotimi Odulele appealed to parents, guardians and teachers to bring their children to make use of the sports.
