Danish giants FC Copenhagen have announced the completion of the signing of Nigerian youngster Akinkunmi Amoo from Swedish club, Hammarby IF on a permanent deal.
Amoo signed a four year contract with the Copenhagen in a deal which is reportedly set in the region of €4,4 million, plus bonuses and a sell-on clause, making it a record breaking transfer for Hammarby.
The winger made a name for himself in Sweden where he bagged 13 goals and assisted nine times in 48 appearances for Stockholm club Hammarby.
The 19-year-old is also an essential part of Nigeria national youth team setup and have subsequently featured for Nigeria on the 2019 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Tanzania.
Later the same year, Amoo was part of the Nigerian squad that got knocked out in the round of 16 during the 2019 U-17 World Cup.
“FCK is an international club with ambitions to compete against the biggest teams in Europe, and I was really attracted to be part of these ambitions.
“There have been other opportunities for me along the way, but I feel that FCK is the correct next step for me in terms of career. Here I can develop and learn a lot together with the fantastic players that the club already has.
“I’m really looking forward to the challenge and to stepping into Parken, which is a fantastic stadium with passionate fans”, Amoo told the club’s media.
He becomes the second Nigerian to join Copenhagen in the January transfer window after Paul Mukairu was announced by the club a few days ago.
