Kenyan and Marathon Record Holder, Eluid Kipchoge will grace the Abuja Marathon after agreeing to collect €200,000 with the current exchange rate equalling to N78,500,000 for appearance fee.

Eluid is the world record holder in marathon with a time of 2:01:39 which he set on 16 September 2018, at the 2018 Berlin Marathon. His run broke the previous world record by 1 minute and 18 seconds.

This was disclosed by Dr. Yusuf Ali While delivering a lecture on the downturn of Nigeria’s Athletics Fortune at the 2020 Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Week in Abeokuta.

Yusuf is the Director Manager of the silver label Marathon in Nigeria, Lagos City Marathon.

The 2021 Edition of Abuja Marathon will flag off on June 13th.
