On his part, the manager Ghetto Tigers FC, Azeez Mustapha said that the initiative of celebrating the players is to give them the taste of what professional football clubs do.

He added that the award ceremony is to motivate them to keep growing.

He said, “The initiative behind this award is very simple. You think that you watch us as a football club, you watch us grow from 2018. You see a football club that started from the scratch, literally from the scratch, from the grassroots. Which is what good football is all about. We started very small. We are still not as big as we envision ourselves to be, but I can tell you that we are no longer small.

“This awards is just to do what is going on around the world. We want to follow the path of other football clubs. We need to motivate players. You need to give them a motivation. You need to start as much as possible to give them a sense of humour. So that is why we need to initiate our players of the month, players of the year.

“We need to keep improving our football club, we need to ensure that we continue to build on the legacies that we set for ourselves. So the initiative is just for us to try as much as possible to do what our counterparts across the globe do.” he said
