The organisers of Nigeria’s first women football pre season Championship, the 2020 Flying Officers Cup, has announced that it would pay Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000) to the winner.
NAIRASPORTS reported that the Nigeria Women’s Premier League will Kick off December 9 across the country.
Barrister Paul Edeh, the founder of Ratels Sports Foundation, sponsors of the Women Football Pre-season Championship made this known while addressing journalists in Abuja.
Edeh revealed that plans for the grand prize of N500,000 for the winner of the Pre-season Championship was made known late because it was meant to be a surprise for participating teams.
“Plans were on ground from the begining to reward the winner with a prize money. We thought we should make it a big surprise to the teams. Edeh said.
“We intend to make it more competitive and to reward participating teams too. The first runner up will go home with N300,000, while the second runners up gets N200,000.
“Also in a bid to stave off the financial crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, we decided to make registration free, and subsidize accommodation for teams by almost 70%.
Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, Edo queens, Nasarawa Amazons, Confluence Queens, Naija Ratels FC, Osun Babes, Abia Angels will arrive the Federal Capital City, Abuja this weekend for the Championship.
