The Confederation for Africa Football(CAF) have announced a new date for the draw of African Nations Championship (CHAN) Algeria 2022 qualifiers which was earlier in the month postponed indefinitely.

In the communiqué released by CAF on Wednesday, the new date for the draw which is billed to take place in Cairo, Egypt has now been set for Thursday, 26 May 2022.

Algerian legend Djamal Menad, top scorer and winner of 1990 AFCON with Algeria, will be the draw assistant joined by CAF Head of Competitions Khaled Nassar.

In another change of event, the biennial tournament which is scheduled to take place in Algeria in January to February 2023, will feature 18 teams in the finals for the first time in history as opposed to the former 16 teams.

Only players who play in the domestic championship of their country of origin are eligible to compete in the tournament.
