Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro has finally reacted to his appointment as the new manager of Nigeria National football team, Super Eagles.

It is no longer news that the Nigeria Football Federation announced the appointment of the former FC Porto manager after months of speculations about who will replace Gernot Rohr as the coach of the country’s national team on a permanent basis.

After almost two weeks of keeping mute about his new appointment, Coach Pesiro has finally broken his silence in a Twitter post on Wednesday afternoon.

He made it known in the post that he is proud and joyous to be appointed the coach of the most populous African country’s national team side.

“Pride! It is with great pride and joy that I am the coach of one of the greatest football nations in the world,” Peseiro posted on his Twitter account.

“Commanding the Super Eagles starts with knowing how to respect history, value it and be inspired by its roots. “

“Over 200 million Nigerians, from all states and ethnicities, want the same thing: success. We will work with great ambition, so that in the end we can finally call Nigeria the “four-time African champions.”

Jose Peseiro first task on the dugout will begin next week when the Super Eagles take on Mexico and Ecuador in two high profile friendly matches in the United States.
