Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has been named in the Serie A Team of the Week for the first time this season alongside Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 25-year-old who made his 12th start for Udinese in their 2-1 away loss to Empoli on Sunday was one of the Zebrette’s standout players in the defeat earning an impressive game rating of 7.8, making 2 clearances, 2 blocked shots, 1 interception and completed 100% of his tackles.
Troost-Ekong is to partner fellow African star Kalidou Koulibaly in the center back after Senegal performance in Napoli win over Genoa while Gian Marco Ferrari of Sassuolo and Luiz Felipe of Lazio complete the back four in the 4-4-3 formation.
However, Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini plus Jordan Veretout of Fiorentina and SPAL star Manuel Lazzari made up the three-man midfield while in attack Cristiano Ronaldo who was on target Juventus in their 2-0 win over AC Milan at San Siro leads the three-man attack the alongside Nigeria international club teammate Ignacio Pusseto and Atalanta’s Josip Ilicic.
Troost-Ekong who moves to Udinese for €3.3 million from Bursaspor in August is expected in the Super Eagles camp on Tuesday ahead of Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against South Africa in Johannesburg
