M.K.O Abiola National Stadium

Nigerias largest stadium will undergo some upgrades due to it’s deterioration,it was beauty to behold when it was at it’s best and it has 60,491 capacity. Due to bad administration, the maintenance of the Abuja National Stadium began to deteriorate, the football pitch went off color the scoreboard were not functioning, it was also reported that some herdsmen take their cows there to graze.

It was abandoned by the sports ministry, several Ministers came around when they got appointment as the Minister of Sports, all they do was just a routine check and that was all. All the promises they made to refurbish the stadium were not fufilled . Gernot Rhor claimed that the pitches of Nigeria Stadiums are not up to standard for a team like Nigeria, this was because he his wards have played at small stadiums and on rough pitches. He said he would prefer the stadiums in Lagos , Abuja and Uyo.

NFF tabled a proposal to FIFA that they wish to host the FIFA U20 women’s World Cup Next Year in October and the Minister has assured that the facilities needed would be provided in die time. The sports minter on his Twitter handle made it known that Alhaji Aliko Dangote has agreed to collaborate with the Sports Ministry in restoring the pitch and and the scoreboard at the M.K.O Abiola National Stadium,Abuja.

We hope that this development happening to Abuja National Stadium happens to the Nation Stadium in Surulere,Lagos.
