The Ekiti state University school team known as “the galacticos” has been invited to participate in the third edition of the football competition organised by the Joint Admission and Materialistic Board (JAMB) which will kick off on the 13th of October in Ilorin, Kwara state capital. The galacticos came fourth in the last edition, being defeated by KWASU, will be competing with other fifteen institutions in Ilorin, nairasports.com.ng reports
According to the permanent secretary, Kwara state ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji Shuaib Akanbi said 16 teams will be competing in the football tournament are made up of five each from the Universities, Polytechnics and colleges of Education as well as one from the innovative Enterprise initiatives.
Galaticos head coach, Mr. Babajide Coupon, during an interview with NAIRASPORTS in Ekiti, disclosed that his team is fully prepared for the competition. He also added that poor sports facilities as a major setback befalling the players
Explained that The galacticos have participated in several competition this year including the Higher institution Football league (HIFI) and currently participating in the Ekiti state football league known as the bet9ja league where the team is currently in the semifinals and will be playing soccer Academy in the semi final.
Also, one of EKSU Sport Directors, Adesokan, who spoke with NAIRASPORTS, noted that lack of discipline and bad attitude, costs the team her defeat in the last edition but it would be avoided this year.
Meanwhile, the winner will bag one million naira while first and second runners up will go home with #750,000 and #500,000 respectively
