Nothing less than five days to the Commencement of the 20th Edition of 2020 National Sports Festival in Edo, Benin state as Federal Government postponed the event.
This was made known by the Sports Minister, Sunday Dare in a series of tweets on early hours on Tuesday.
Sunday Dare said that the postponement was caused by the deadly year’s the coronavirus affecting the world globally.
According to the tweet, “Following the briefing of Mr. President from myself and the Minister of State for Health on COVID 19, Mr. President approved the immediate postponement of Edo Sports festival to a future date,”
The National Sports Festival is Nigeria Olympics where all states converge for laurels and use to prepare for the world Olympics. This year edition was scheduled for March 22 to April 1 with over 8,000 athletes to participate.
