Barcelona has announced the retrenchment of its coach Ernesto Valverde on Monday.
The news came today at the club’s training facility. Valverde who had been on the hot seat since last year got sacked after a short meeting with the Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu at the club’s training facility.
The Spaniard who won two LA Liga trophy (2017-2018 and 2018-2019), Copa del Rey (2017-2018) and Supercopa de Espana (2018) for the Catalan during his two years and eight months spell with the Spanish giant.
It would be the first time that Barcelona have sacked a Coach in the middle of a season since Dutch international Louis Van Gaal in 2003 – when they were 20 points behind Real Sociedad, and eventually finished sixth.
Barcelona erstwhile coach won 97 matches, drew 32 and lost 16 in his 145 matches managed for the club.
