Sergio Kun Aguero scored a hat-trick in their 6-1 win over Aston Villa, becoming the highest goalscorer ever for foreigners to play in the Premier league.
City opened the scoring through Riyad Mahrez when he powered a low shot past the Aston Villa goalkeeper, Orjan Nylan, early in the first half.
The AFCON winner doubled his side lead six minutes later after he received a pass from Gabriel Jesus.
Kun Aguero added the third and his first for the match when he met a Kevin De Bruyne pass, the goal ensured he is tied level with Thierry Henry as the highest goalscorer for foreigners.
Gabriel Jesus also got on the score sheet to make it 4-0 just before halftime, as his side ran riot against Aston Villa.
Aguero scored his second of the evening just before the hour mark. The goal meant he has surpassed Thierry Henry’s record with his 176th Premier League goal.
The Argentinian forward grabbed his hat-trick with nine minutes left to play, his 12th Premier league hat-trick as he surpassed Alan Shearer (11) for most in the league.
According to the forward, “I’d like to thank all of those who’ve made this possible. My teammates, the whole @ManCity, our supporters, the @premierleague, my family and all of those who help me be better every day. And a special dedication to my son Benjamin” he said
Aston Villa were awarded a penalty following a foul committed by Nicolas Otamendi, El Ghazi stepped up to grab a consolation for his side.
